Wow, your not in Colorado by chance? That story sounds like it came from someone I know.

Once Again: It's Okay for JWs to Rip-Off Non-JWs
by Iown Mylife intoday i heard from the owner of a small restaurant, the story of how a brother in a local congregation ripped him off for thousands.
the restaurant owner is not a jw but totally familiar with the cult, as his mother is a long-time baptized sister.
she asked him to hire this wonderful brother from her congregation to do construction work he needed at his house.

JW encounters.... How about you?
by dazed but not confused inlooking back, were there witnesses that you secretly hoped would never learn ttatt, never wake up?.
i had two polar opposite encounters this weekend.
the first was a sweet sister that saw me and my wife at the grocery store and gave us both big hugs and asked how we were doing.

It would crush my mom to learn TTATT. Her whole world is JW. She would be lost. At 62 after coming into the cult in 1974, she would have a lot of difficulty making new friends. A bit antisocial.
What I meant in the OP was a bit selfish. People you don’t really like and would not want to learn TTATT to spite them. I was in a bit of a snotty mood when I wrote the OP.

Lots more free time to spend with the kids and wife. Virtually no stress… stress preparing presentations for Saturday service and then the WT study for Sunday. Then getting up early for Sunday meetings or ruining the whole day if we had a mid or late Sunday meeting. Growing up, I always hated Sundays. Now I realize it was because they were ruined by meetings, not being able to relax before going back to school or work the following day.
I hated Sundays. Now, love em.

Looking back, were there witnesses that you secretly hoped would never learn TTATT, never wake up?
I had two polar opposite encounters this weekend. The first was a sweet sister that saw me and my wife at the grocery store and gave us both big hugs and asked how we were doing. I always like her and her husband. They had kids a few years younger than us. We would hang out a lot at get-to-gathers. They also moved out of the hall shortly before my exit because of the colossal douches that ran the hall.
The other was a guy, an elder who was appointed a few months before I left. He was the type that was friendly out of compulsion. His wife was really cool and got along with everyone. This is the third encounter I’ve had with him since leaving. He’s the big, dopy douchie type. I think being appointed really went to his head. The other elders I have encountered since leaving are at the very least cordial. Not this one.
Anyways, I was just curious if there were any of you out there who secretly wished “some” would never wake up and deserved to be brainwashed in the cult? Or is it something you wouldn't "wish on your worst enemy"?

Just had my first cigar of the New Year. It was a Brick House. Smooth. It came in a variety pack of 90+ rated cigars I bought several months ago. I enjoyed it. Today is a cool, sunny day here in Colorado. Good day for a smoke. Mrs. Dazed bought me a humidor as my anniversary gift last summer. I’ve stocked up since then.
Any new or old members enjoy a cigar once in a while? I have tried some of the suggestions from above.

The Watchtower: Does This Game Of Jenga Ever End?
by metatron inthere are a great many fine posts here - and some from 8 years back - detailing how apathetic and perfunctory the organization has become.. and yet, it still stands, doesn't it?.
is there any point to be reached in this apparent 'experiment in sociology' in which they wake up and say 'screw this?
' if they crammed 10 congregations into one hall and stole the money, would any witnesses wake up?

Many of us here have been hurt and have a lot of hatred for the WTBTS. The simple truth is, not enough people are leaving. The last 10 years I was “in”, far too many justified far too much. I did for years. If you have enough people in “reaffirming their faith” and bolstering each other’s faith, then you will not have overwhelming hoards of people leaving. Unless there is another major scandal, many brainless JW’s will stay in and justify what’s happening all the while raising their children to be brainless JW’s. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t see an end to the WT in my lifetime.
I agree. That was a statement I heard far too often, “Well, it’s still the truth.”
